Toiletry Drive Benefiting Ascension Food Pantry

Due to the recent increased cost for basic needs, Church of Asencion's Social Ministry Chair had announced at all Masses the need for not only food for the Parish's Food Pantry but also toiletry items. Church of the Ascension Pack 408 conducted a Toiletry Drive for Ascension's Food Pantry so the Scouts with their parents could learn why the Food Pantry is needed and learn more about the clients the Food Pantry supports.

Over 2.5 weeks, Church of the Ascension Pack 408 conducted a toiletry drive and solicited donations from the Parish community and the community outside the Parish to help highlight the need for basic sanitary goods.

The Scouts were told that the toiletry items donated would benefit at least 150 clients who shopped at the Food Pantry weekly.

The Pack learned about Church of the Ascension's Social Ministry's mission, the ministries within Social Ministry and the Food Pantry as well as the clients that benefit from the Ministry from the Social Ministry Chair. More importantly, the Scouts were taught that the clients seeking help are treated with respect, dignity and with no judgement. The Social Ministry Chair also took the Scouts on a tour of the Food Pantry after the presentation.
