Tech access for children enables bright futures.
Rover Megan Evans studied Computer Science and Software Engineering at University. After attending the Impact Innovator's Challenge training, she pursued more initiatives within her work environment to empower women and youth to learn how to use computers, knowing that using technology is an invaluable skill that they will need to navigate the working world.
As a software consultant at Discovery Health, Megan was able to volunteer in one of their outreach programmes where they bring underprivileged school children to HQ in Sandton and teach them basic programming skills. She volunteered for 2 of their weekend workshops where she assisted in teaching Python and Html basics to children in Grade 6-12.
The main learning from this year is to aim for less setup time, and more accessible tools-to maximise on learning and teaching time.
