Tabang Ta! Odette

Tabang Ta! Odette is a local donation drive to the victims of super typhoon Rai, locally known as Odette that has made its landfall on December 16, 2021, in different regions all across the Philippines. This has immensely affected the lives of locals. With this, One Love Malaybalay, together with Project Zara and TreeBuk Project, has created this initiative to assist the basic needs of the victims of Typhoon Odette.
The project was planned on December 19, 2021 and started gathering both in-kind and cash donations the following day. It was implemented in Bukidnon with all proceeds going to Surigao and Cebu City. We partnered with both local and Surigao based organizations for the dissemination of information and the transportation of goods. All monetary donations were used to buy essentials while in-kind donations were re-packed evenly. After 5 days, the team went to Surigao to conduct an on-site operaton.
Tabang Ta! Odette had 3 phases, All in all, we managed to re-pack 200+ family relief goods. Benefiting around 930-1000 victims. During the on-site operation, we have seen that the beneficiaries are diverse and grateful. In our locality, we managed to partner with a lot organizations and donors coming from different backgrounds. This shows that there are really a lot of people willing to help our fellow Kababayans in times of crisis.
This Project made me realize that Climate Change is definitely a factor of this inevitable circumstance. I have also realized that relief operations are a bandage solution to these crisis. We must demand climate action and climate change as an emergency. The implementation showed me that if given the chance, most people are willing to help and donate. Every single clothing or peso will certainly bright up someone's day with the feeling of gratefulness.
