Supporting people seeking asylum in Australia
As our Community Service this year for our Messengers of Peace Badge helped out with the annual Brisbane Mums4Refugees quiz night.
This annual event raises around $8,000 for people living below the poverty line in the Brisbane community, raises awareness of the plight of people seeking asylum in Australia and provides employment for refugees as the evening's scrumptious Middle Eastern meal is cooked by refugees working with the the not for profit The Good Food Project. https://www.facebook.com/thegoodfoodprojectnundah/
Cubs and Scouts help to set up the room to seat 130 people - cleaning the entire venue, cleaning glasses, moving tables and chairs, putting on table cloths, laying place settings for guests.
Cubs also cooked slices/biscuits/cakes for our cake stall at the event to raise money for people seeking asylum in Australia.
Wow, wow, wow , wow, wow - the Cubs and a few Scouts were amazing today !
They all did sooooo much hard work cleaning , setting up , organising , learning new hospitality skills. We're so proud of them all!
Please know that your work was very , very much appreciated.
