Support to Solomon Islands Scout Association
In 2021, the Solomon Islands Scout Association (SISA) became the 172nd Member Organization of WOSM and subsequently joined the Asia-Pacific Region, with more than 500 Scout members.
To further strengthen this newest member organization in the Region, the project was initiated to develop SISA’s organizational systems and operations, and to deliver capacity-building initiatives aimed at enabling the association to grow into a stronger and larger member organization within the region.
A Scout Executive from an established Scout organization in the Region was deployed to the Solomon Islands to lead capacity-building initiatives and support the development of the Solomon Islands Scout Association’s organizational structure, systems, policies, and programmes.
One key learning from the project is that deploying a Scout leader from an established NSO to support a newly developing organization is helpful in sharing best practices and practical examples of how systems and programmes are implemented in larger organizations. This also gives local leaders ideas and inspiration while allowing them to adapt these practices to their own context.
