Stretch Out the Hand, Reduce the Burden
I was moved to take this action when I read a report in the news that headwaters had occurred in the Yan District area destroying almost the entire river and nearby settlements. The surrounding areas are also paralyzed with lack of food supply and the daily activities of the population are severely affected due to the economic crisis and the spread of covid-19 faced around the world today.
Incollaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations, and Yan District Youth Council has carried out post-flood relief missions in several areas such as Teroi, Tupah, and Merbok affected by the mud-flood. We provided logictics equipment and energy assistance through cleaning work. Cleaning work was carried out at 2 schools, recreation centers, camp sites and a total of 300 units of electric rice cookers and mattresses were given to 300 houses from 10 am - 8.30 pm. Another tasks that are managed are such as the preparation of cleaning equipment, and the preparation of food.
With the natural disaster and the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide, the Kedah Rover Scout Team is committed to carrying out this mission in order to breathe new life into helping reduce the burden and inspire the community in Yan and Kuala Muda District to continue to rise.
Throughout this mission I understood many things such as always being patient in any situation, not giving up in the face of adversity, always ready to help others or the community, and be tolerant with the community in working together in the face of adversity. I call on young people and the community out there to work together to help the community in the affected areas, start taking action in future missions.
