Strengthening Scouting in the Caribbean
Scouting in the Caribbean is full of energy, creativity, and potential — yet many National Scout Organizations (NSOs) face unique challenges, from limited adult volunteers to scarce resources for growth. To support them, the Interamerican Region launched the Strengthening Scouting in the Caribbean Project, a collaborative effort to better understand each NSO’s realities and design tailored action plans for the future.
Through consultations, virtual meetings, and GSAT self-assessments, volunteers and leaders worked hand-in-hand with regional consultants to identify key needs in areas such as governance, training, finance, administration, and adult management. Each NSO brought its own strengths and challenges, creating a rich exchange of experiences that not only informed the plans but also inspired new ideas across the Region.
Chief Commissioners highlighted that attracting and retaining more adults remains one of their biggest challenges, with many Scout Groups depending on a single leader. The project’s methodology, tools, and follow-up will provide concrete ways to address this, ensuring continuity in youth programmes and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.
