The State Rally-2013 was organised at Kullu, one of the favourite tourist destinations in India, by the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Distt. Kullu from 18th of November to 22nd of November, 2013. The theme of the Rally was- “We are Scouts, We are Messengers of Peace” About 1200 participants from 11 out of the 12 districts participated in the Rally which was opened with the ‘Flag Ceremony’ and formally inaugurated by Sh. Dinkar Burathoki, State Chief Commissioner-cum-Director of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh in presence of the distinguished guests from all over the State. During the Rally, the participants participated actively participated in various competitions like Pioneering Projects, Rangoli, Slogan Writing, Folk Dance, Group Song, Exhibition, Pageant Show, Food Plaza, Skit, Skill-o-Rama etc. All the competitions were based on the THEME. During the Rally, the District President-cum-Deputy Commissioner Sh. Rakesh Kanwar, IAS, visited the Rally on 20th of November and advised the Scouts and Guides to be the ‘Messengers of Peace’ in real sense. Myself, Pankaj Gupta, ‘Member, Messengers of Peace-Team India’ explained about the ‘Messengers of Peace’ initiative to the participants and ‘How to Create Profile’ and ‘submit Project’ etc. on www.scout.org platform through the videos and presentations on big screen on daily basis. Sh. Vijay Mahajan, SOC (Scouts)-cum-Leader of the Rally, Ms. Kiran Thakur, Joint State Secretary and Sh. Jagdish Ji, District Chief Commissioner-cum-Dy. Director of Higher Education, Distt. Kullu appreciated Sh. Manohar Lal Thakur, DOC (Scouts), Smt. Chanderkanta, DOC (Guides), Sh. Amar Singh Sandhu, DTC (Scouts) and Smt. Bimla Verma DTC (Guides) and their team for their efforts in making the Rally a grand success. They also thanked Mr. Pankaj Sharma from SE Railway for his valuable service in erecting the Adventure Bases and Fun Bases. Dr. Vinod K. Dhawan, IPS, the Superintendent of Police, was the Chief Guest of Valedictory Function and Grand Camp Fire on 21st of November. He appreciated the role of Scouts and Guides in community development. He also thanked Lord Baden Powell for this wonderful organisation. The Rally concluded with ‘All Faith Prayer’, ‘Flag Lowering Ceremony’ and singing of National Anthem on 22nd of November, 2013 with a promise that “We are Messengers of Peace and we will make this world a better place to live.”
