Southwell Scout Group (Cubs Organised) Cleanup Australia Day Activity
Our Cub pack, under the guidence of Matthew Platt, our CSL, organised for the Group to participate in Clean-up Australia Day. This is an annual event where groups and members of the public go out and undertake projects, large & small, to help remove the built-up litter and rubbish in our local environment.
7 leaders, 4 Adult Helpers, 6 Joeys (Beavers), 3 Cubs, one Scout, one Guide and 5 venturers (plus a dog!) collected seevral bags of litter from the parks, roadsides and playing fields around our Scout Hall. Rubbish ranged from a long-forgotten kitchen range-hood to someones sharps-bin for hypodermic syringes. Luckilly, the Cubs has recently had their sharps aware course from the Draco Scout Fellowship, so all was safely handled by the adults in each team.
A short 4 hour effort, but a solid end result!
Many thanks to Matthew Platt for organising the day with his Cubs.
