Sosebenza PS: Growing Voices, Growing Confidence
The project was inspired by the joy of watching learners become more confident readers and writers. Yeboneers wanted to help them grow comfortable expressing themselves, especially in moments where speaking aloud felt intimidating.
Learners practised reading aloud, writing, and sharing their work in a supportive environment. Yeboneers encouraged participation and helped learners overcome hesitation, especially those who could read but lacked the confidence to do it publicly.
Yeboneers realised that learners progress at different speeds and need different levels of patience. Some needed extra encouragement to continue reading even when stuck. The experience taught the team to slow down, be attentive, and support each learner’s pace without rushing the process.
