Sivuyiseni PS: Literacy Unlocks Confidence

This literacy project aimed to give every child the chance to read with understanding and write confidently. The Yeboneers wanted learners to experience literacy as a foundation for learning and future opportunities, fostering self-belief and encouraging engagement with reading and writing.

Learners explored reading comprehension, storytelling, vocabulary, and dictionary skills. Yeboneers guided them to read aloud, summarize stories, write short stories, and engage actively, supporting both shy and confident learners. The sessions emphasized patience, teamwork, and creative methods to make literacy interactive and enjoyable.

The adventure highlighted the power of encouragement, access to reading materials, and patience. Learners gained confidence, particularly in reading aloud, while Yeboneers learned that small, consistent efforts and creative approaches can significantly enhance literacy outcomes. Stakeholders observed noticeable improvements and the revival of library engagement.
