Siphiwo PS: Growing Confidence Through Reading
The project aimed to spark a lifelong love of reading by helping learners explore new ideas, build literacy skills, and gain confidence. Yeboneers wanted learners to experience reading as a doorway to imagination, learning, and personal growth.
Learners took part in reading, writing, dictionary work and outdoor literacy activities. Yeboneers supported different ability levels, encouraged participation, and created space for learners to grow, including moments where shy learners discovered new confidence and leadership.
The team learnt the value of adaptability, creativity and teamwork in supporting literacy. They saw how confidence expands when learners are guided gently and how tools like library cards and dictionaries strengthen reading skills in meaningful ways.
