Sinibaran Bakud Karapakan Mangrove Beach Forest is a 29 hectares Mangrove Beach Forest being planted since year 2015. Tree planting in Sinibaran is one way of restoring the mangrove forests which was converted to fishponds and abandoned idle for many years but now through this collaborative effort the site is regaining the lost habitat. This project is in collaboration with the Emeterio-Federica Gerez Scouts, Barangay Officials and Collaborators like the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Before, Sinibaran Mangrove forest is a sanctuary of shrimps, fishes, crabs, shells and various species; but, when converted to fishponds everything was lost including the big mangrove trees like, miyapi, bakawan, pagatpat and more. The Scouts encourages support to the Sinibaran Mangrove Beach Forest for sustainable development and all Mangrove Planting along San Juanico Strait, Janabatas channel and all throughout Babatngon, Leyte, Philippines. Mangrove deforestation in Karapakan site threatens devastations to hectares of riceland because of uncontrolled salt water high tides. The scouts believes that massive mangrove planting is the answer to stop its adverse effect. So we need financial assistance for our scouts to continue helping rehabilitate this mangrove forests.
