Seed for the Future
As we continue living on earth, climate change has worsened. Some of its effects were higher temperatures, frequent landslides, and an increased chance of flash floods in the mountains. We must start our climate action now before these impacts can intensify. Tree planting is the most effective way to combat and delay the effects of climate change. It inspires me to engage in tree planting activities to take part in helping the environment and expose them to long-term and short-term benefits.
The tree planting and growing activity occurred in Eco Park, Brgy. Pagas, Cabanatuan City, partnered with Reserve Command Philippine Army and 7th infantry Division with other organizations and barangay officials. The activity ended with us planting approximately 150 tree seedlings that can offer cooling shades, filter our air, contain soil erosion, and add grace and beauty to the community as it grows.
The tree planting and growing activity benefited the people living around them. As you may not know, Brgy. Pagas are located near a river; when these trees grow, they can reduce the risk of flooding. The tree's root holds the soil together, preventing soil erosion.
As said by Pagas Brgy. Captain, these trees cannot grow by themselves, so we must continue checking and supply them with what they need to help them nourish faster and healthier. This activity also helps us shape our perspectives and attitudes to be more profitable stewards of the environment.
