SCOUTS WALK FOR 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GBV
From our own research and statistics, gender discrimination still lives and is highly practiced in marginalized communities. 2 in 5 girls have experienced FGM. 1 IN 5 have been illegally married off to men according to "traditions". Kijana Shujaa Project is a project aiming to eliminate forms of violence against women and girls in marginalized communities. this being, sexual violence, FGM, and early pregnancies, through advocacy, education, and activism
Kijana Shujaa Projected was implemented at Namelok, Loitokitok Constituency in Kajiado County. Scouts present conducted a walk on ending violence against GBV on women and girls to close the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV on women and girls. we then opened focus groups for the community to conduct empowerment and deliver services via the focus groups by covering key topics affecting the community.
Our project target group was women, girls, and boys, men, and youths and we managed to reach them all. for women we interacted with 20 women who we opened a focus group by the name Mama Shujaa Initiative. for youths we opened the Kijana Shujaa initiative, for children we opened Toto Smart Club and Teen Smart Club. we had a total of 258 beneficiaries community members
