Scouts Unidos: Donando Sonrisas
As scouts we know no limits, no boundaries that prevent us from helping those who need us. In June, the coastal areas of the country suffered floods due to the heavy rains of the winter season. Therefore, we decided to launch a campaign to collect donations for our affected brothers and sisters in Esmeraldas
Our scout project consisted of two phases. In the first one, we focused on collecting donations, achieving total success by putting together around 200 essential kits, thanks to the collaboration with various institutions and district beneficiaries. The walkers of Scout Group #10 Caballero de San Jorge - Esmeraldas were in charge of distributing the kits to the right people, at the right time.
Scouts United: Donating Smiles had a significant impact on the educational institutions of Latacunga who enthusiastically joined the cause. Likewise, people outside the movement did not hesitate to join the project. Thanks to these joint efforts, we were able to provide immediate assistance to around 200 families in Esmeraldas.
Faced with an urgent disaster, we learned how to create an effective emergency project quickly, thanks to the group collaboration that allowed us to adapt to the challenges. We also immersed ourselves in the practice of empathy, a fundamental value that underpins our work and reaffirms our choice to be an active part of the scout movement.
