SCOUTS SERVE AS PEACE OFFICERS AT THE NATIONAL CARNIVAL CELEBRATION

Scouts in Harare ,Zimbabwe played a pivotal role during the carnival celebrations where they served as peace guards during the event whilst wearing their uniforms. This is the 3rd version of this annual programme where the Government ministry of Tourism has recognised peace efforts of the SAZ and have invited expertise from the association to help control the public in streets during the activities which are normally done in the form of a street march before gathering at one spot for final celebrations. International celebrities oftenly come for this event and the crowd always try to reach to them for selfies and other things which disturbs the movement of the carnival convoy so that is where scouts come in as route marshals and managers to ensure safety together with the national police. 29 Adult scouts served as route managers and marshals and 60 scouts participated as marching parade during the street walk. The event started at 8am on the 9th of september and ended the same day at midnight. Scouts got deployed to working points at 6am. Also during and after the show scouts were environmental agents who wnsureed the streets were clean and smart for the activities.
