Scouts Healing Invisible Wounds

Scouts Healing Invisible Wounds

Scouts Healing Invisible Wounds Campaign is an initiative by rover scouts in Kenya ,whose career fields are in Counseling Psychology.

Our main objective is to create awareness on mental health and mental illness,to help eradicate stigma that surrounds it. We are providing a safe space as well for people with lived mental illness to share their stories so as to inspire, and encourage more to come out and seek help. We Provide psychosocial support to individuals who come forward and refer those with severe mental health conditions to professional counsellors.

We use online platforms to engage the public in awareness conversations, where we invite professionals to facilitate different topics. So far,we have reached 1000 people through zoom platforms ,and 10,000 through social media engagements.

Plans are underway to hold physical activities to help us get a larger audience including a Psychological First Aid training, a bike ride ,hike and bonfire for mental health. So far,we have visited 200 youths in different youth-led groups including rover scout crews and church groups, whom we engage in Mental Health talks through psychodrama.

We also plan on starting support groups at community level, as well as mental wellness clubs in schools and institutions of higher learning.

Additionally, we also highlight and share the contribution of scouting towards mental wellness.
