Every year Scout Association of Guyana hosts a Share-a-Meal for the less fortunate and this takes several forms, cooking the meal and going into the streets or inviting the less fortunate to our Headquarters (this is mostly for the children). This is being done because everyday we see people, elders and young children alike begging on the streets. Although several groups undertake this at a group level throughout the year, we come together as an Association to hold one big Share-a-Meal during the Christmas Season to help spread the feeling of goodwill to those who cannot afford to do so. On December 16, 2012, we invited the less fortunate kids from depressed areas around Georgetown, Guyana to share in a meal and to also have a little fun which they would normally not have, such as jumping on a trampoline, having their faces painted, or playing little games such as pass the parcel and musical chairs. There were also interactive games and fun with a clown. At the end all the kids received a visit from Santa Claus and his elves who gave them gifts.   Scout Groups around the central Georgetown area, provided inexcess of 300 boxes of food, 250+ gifts for all ages and of course their time. The Excutive Committee provided drinks, and attractions (trampoline & clown).   On the Saturday prior to the event groups took to the streets to distribute tickets to kids and their parents and made preparations for our guests (decorating our hall and minor food preparations).    On the actual day of the event, the weather certainly did not work in our favour nor did it work in the kid's favour as most of them could not come out. Well after those who attended and we were finished cleaning up we took the food and gifts to some of the areas where we distributed tickets and distributed the food and gifts. One of the beneficiaries of some of the food and gifts were children from Ruimveldt Children's Home.    Similar Share-a-meal projects were carried out around Guyana where Scout Groups exists.
