Scouts Go Green
The Philippines is intersected by the equator which is why we, Filipinos, experience more warmer temperatures all year-round and due to climate change, the temperature is continously increasing as days go by. Tree planting is one of the easiest action we can make to combat climate change and as of today, we have already planted more than 50 trees and we are still nurturing seedlings that are opt to be planted before this year ends.
Our project was implemented in Saguday National High School, Barangay Magsaysay, Saguday, Quirino Province, Philippines. We started this project by propagating miracle fruit trees in the 2nd week of March 2022 and the 1st implementation of the project was on June 16, 2022. Some of the propagated trees left are still on the nursery and probably be planted by the 1st week of August.
More than 1900 school community are the beneficiaries of this project. The trees planted will not just serve as oxygen provider and carbon dioxide absorber but it will also produce fruits when it is old enough to produce one. It was called miracle fruit tree because it has its natural ability to cure diseases, even cancer.
In conducting this project, the very first knowledge I got from it is how to plant/propagate miracle fruit tree. Usually, when we are conducting tree planting, the saplings/seedlings are already prepared, old enough to be planted but in this project we started from scratch. How long it will take for the tree to reach its planting time comes next.
