Scouting for Food!!
Pack 97 wants to help prevent hunger by gathering food and giving it to donation centers.
Pack 97 organized a two-week food drive serving our local community. In the first week, 30 cub scouts, accompanied by adult scout leaders and parents, distributed paper bags and flyers throughout a large neighborhood, explaining the project and asking residents to fill the bags with food donations for the following week. The following week, the cub scouts returned with their adult scout leaders and parents to collect the filled bags from community members throughout the neighborhood. All donated food was then transported to the local donation center where it was distributed to those in need.
- Participants: 30 cub scouts from Pack 97, along with adult scout leaders and parents, contributed approximately 120 total service hours across preparation, bag and flyer distribution, neighborhood pickup, and food transport to the donation center.
- Beneficiaries: Approximately 100 community members in the neighborhood donated food and received benefit through the local donation center as a direct result of this project.
The cub scouts of Pack 97 learned about leadership and community service. They also learned about the importance of hard work, planning, and charitable giving. The generosity displayed by both the scouts and the community members who filled the bags made this project a success.
