Salango against plastic

One of the most problematic situations in the coast region of Ecuador is the lack of sanitation in the beaches. Salango is one of the many beaches that our country has, but it is underrated and almost nobody knows of it existence. Despite this, Salango's beach is full of plastics and trash, and this situtation does not let this beach's full potential be known. Taking this into account, we wanted to give Salango's beach a new clean look, so people could go and animals there could enjoy.
The first step was going to Salango. There we went camping and spent about a whole day cleaning the beach and picking up all the trash we could. After that, we socialized our project with other units in our scout group by giving talks, and motivating them to join the challenge some day.
One of the things we learnt is to be aware of our own footprint everywhere we go. A little piece of paper or plastic that we throw somewhere could end up in a big pile of trash. At the same time, we could see the importance of teamwork, not only among ourselves but with residents from the area. We were a few but as residents joined us we grew and grew.
