On the 9th of August at around 6:00 PM in the morning the present members of the National Eagle Scouts Association of the Philippines began the necessary preparation for the vigil, from the materials, venue and station within the grounds of San Jose National High School by the Tacloban City Council. The chapter members were present in response to the letter of request sent by Wood Badge Holder Mr. Stephen Sita, the letter containing a request of the presence of the chapter to facilitate the conduct of a rover vigil in the said institution.

There were more than 100 aspiring rover scouts from San Jose National High School. The rover vigil was initiated at around 8:00 AM and finished at around 1:00 PM.
