This Adult Leadership Development course is run by a team of South Australian Leader Trainers, Rovers, Commissioners and Advisers to cover Australian Rover Sectional specific issues, experiences, anecdotes and skills required to administer the youth program of a successful Rover Crew. If you are interested in taking a leading role in Rovers in your Crew or anywhere else in the country, you should do this course! If you are a newly formed Rover Crew or have just taken on a role on your Crews Executive or even thinking about taking on a Branch Rover Council Executive role, you should do this course! If you are thinking about working on an Event Committee you should do this course! If you are now a Rover Adviser after a few years out of Rovering and want to see how Rovering has changed since you were booted many years ago, you should do this course! Topics that are covered on this course are: • Basic Gilwell Training for Leader of Youth competency for the Rover Section across Australia. • Honorary membership of the 1st Northern Territory Rover Crew, including a new and unique nametape. • Lightweight Camping and Cooking. What does it cover? Why Do it? • This course teaches young Leaders and Rovers to become a more valuable Crew Leader to your Crew, both now and in the future, in areas such as meeting techniques, setting agendas, minute taking, program planning, event management and conducting meetings. • This course teaches young Leaders and Rovers to develop and enhance existing skills that you may already have, in communication, listening, delegating, observation and Leadership. • This course teaches young Leaders and Rovers more about Rovers and you may remember some things you learned in Cubs and Scouts like the Scouting Fundamentals, why we do what we do, what it all means, Squire Training, investitures and ceremonies, navigation, pioneering and the Baden Powell Scout Award. • You will work together with some Rovers from other Crews, even other States that you might not know very well but you will probably form a tight common working relationship with and walk away friends for life and be involved in some valuable discussions across many Rover Crews. • You will get a chance to experiment Master Chef style to see what you can come up with given limited resources and equipment in a ‘Mystery Box Challenge’. • You will learn about preparing for going on a bushwalk including the planning and equipment required.
