On Saturday November 11th, , 41 volunteers from Pflugerville: Girl Scout Troop 1880, Girl Scout Troop 849, Cub Scout Pack 406 Den 3, and Cub Scout Pack 711 Den’s 7&8, and Discover Green, converged on Creek Side Park.  With materials provided by Discover Green, the volunteers replanted flower beds and removed non-indigenous saplings from the near by woods.  Volunteers also covered 3.5 miles of creek basin and hike and bike trails picking up, in total, 8 bags of trash.  That area covered from Moose Park to the cul-de-sac on Geyser Street. Volunteers worked the creek bed, creek basin and the tree line of the woods in that area.  All were happy to report that the creek had minnows and small fish inhabiting the creek, a good sign that the ecosystem is stable.  Some concern had risen that the 5 year "exceptional drought" had impacted marine life in the creek.  In a survey we found that fish life had survived and that in the various pools the size of the fish were varied indicating that the ecosystem had survived better than thought and marinne life was rebounding.  Sampling of snails also indicate the creek is more balanced than predicted.
