INDIA CELEBRATES 71ST REPUBLIC DAY

 India is one of Fiji’s strategic and development partners. This was the message from the Fijian Government as India celebrated its 71st Republic Day in Suva this evening. His Excellency, the President Major-General (Ret'd) Jioji Konrote together with other ministers were part of the celebrations.

Bilateral cooperation between Fiji and India has been through a number of programs in areas such as climate change, disaster management, trade and investment, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, renewable energy and human resource development to name a few.

This was a grand event only for VIP's and as members of Girmit centre we got a chance to be part of this informative, peace promoting event. this event is organized early and I am gald to be part of this in 2020. Alot of government ministers were present including the AG and his excellency the president of Fiji.

Government ministries from india were also present. After all the speeches and welcomes, a session for cultural exchange was coordinated by Indian High Commisioner to Fiji. Here chidlren and youths of various groups from india and fiji presented their aspect of the ethnic group they represented.

Everyone displayed the message of peace which caught the attention of many. Langauge or religion may be different but love and peace promotion was common in all.
