Report on Five-day Theatre Workshop and Music Performance

A 5-day theatre workshop was held at Froebel Public School Anantnag from 25th May to 29 May 2018. The purpose of the workshop was to let the children explore their internal artistic talents, get insights and understand their strengths. 26 children from three schools of Anantnag town attended the workshop. The schools that deputed their children are Govt. Higher Secondary School Mattan, Rose Garden School Anantag and Froebel Public School Anantnag. The Froebel Public School Anantnag hosted the workshop. The Workshop was organized by “Kashmiri Art Revival through Children Project” a part of World scouts, Asia Pacific Bureau of Scouting and J & K Bharat Scouts and Guides. The aim of this project is to provide opportunities to the children to ventilate in abnormal conditions of Kashmir conflict, poverty and terror. It also hopes to revive the dying arts of Kashmir and provide a platform for students who are interested in learning about their heritage, culture and arts. Gul Mohd. Bhagat a renowned Folk Theatre personality of Kashmir was the resource person for the workshop. Baba Furqan was the Leader of the Workshop. The Workshop taught children a variety of artistic and life skills like acting, singing, folk dance, team work, cooperation and coordination. On the final day the participating future artists presented a Play titled ‘ Kashmiriyat’. The play had been prepared during the workshop, in which, all participants enjoyed complete freedom to think, act and share their ideas. They received lot of appreciation and applaud from the audience on the final performance in the Tourist Officer’s Office in Achabal, Anatnag on 30th May 2018. The venue is located near the Heritage Tourist Garden. On the final day a beautiful musical performance by three rovers, Numan, Iqbal and Furqan was presented before the audience. A reputed academician of the district Prof. Alaf Husain Gadoo, who graced the occasion of Presentation on 30th May 2018 as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the World Scouts for the initiative and expressed his earnest desire for expanding their activities in every nook and corner of the Troubled Valley. The other dignitaries included Mr. Shakir Rasool, Chairman Smart Kids School Achabal, Anantnag who in his speech expressed his admiration for the project and requested that his students should also be included in the activities of the project and scouting. Tourist Officer Achabal Mr. Syed Iftikhar Sanjar ensured the Project Leader and all the students associated with the project, of all possible help and cooperation from him and his department Mr. Abdul Ahad Shah, District Commissioner J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides encouraged and blessed all the students Other Guest included Ms. Shafeeqa, Guide Captain BSG and Ms. Rameeza Scout Master BSG Ms. Masarat Jan HOD Science Froebel Public School and Mr. Abid Amin HOD Urdu Froebel Public School Anatnag. Everyone present in the audience spoke very high of the project and the participants. All the guests vowed to support the scouts and guides of the district. Arshid Baba, the project leader thanked the Chief guest, the volunteers, the audience and the students . He also highlighted the mission, vision and achievements of the “Kashmiri Art Revival through Children Project”. He ended his speech with a hope of a better future for the arts, culture, heritage and traditions Kashmir.
