Rendering a helping hands in harvesting of paddy

Autumn is a golden season in rural Bhutan. The crops are bent with their yield. People are bee busy in their field, from collecting oranges to paddy. People rise up with the dawn and be in the field until the day light gives away to dusk.

At this time a helping hand in the form of human resource(s) is highly appreciated by farmers. A group of scouts volunteer their time on sunday to harvest the paddy. It included reaping the paddy: collecting the stalks with a grain: threshing it by beating the stalks. The rice collected in this way would be the staple food for a year to the family.

We worked for the whole day, highly elated, that we could help some one, at the same time, breaking a mundane routine of going to school and teaching.
