Reducing plastic pollution and spreading awareness

As a scout I was motivated to engage myself in this work cause reducing plastic pollution is crucial for safeguarding the environment, protecting marine life, preserving biodiversity, mitigating climate change, promoting human health, encouraging sustainable consumption, inspiring others, and taking responsibility for the well-being of our planet. By being motivated to reduce plastic pollution, I can make a significant impact, contributing to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable world .

I did this project with my unit.It was for “Plastic Tide Turner Challenge”.We did this for 3months straight. It was divided into 3 levels(Preliminary,Leadership & Champion). So it took us a long time to get execute this project properly.

At first I made a unique use of used plastics at my home by making a flower vase from a plastic bottle, made awareness posters about plastic pollution and how its gonna end human existence , alerted 10 individual families to reduce their use of plastics as much as possible. Me and my team spread awareness to businessmen who are always in need to plastic to run their business ,we tried to clean plenty areas which are polluted and also near reservoirs so that it won’t cause water-logging.it took about 1 month. Then we completed the Leadership level which also took another month. Then we finished champions level and thus completing our log book and achieved plastic tide turner badge.

Our project benefits the environment by preserving ecosystems, protecting wildlife, and preserving biodiversity. It helps mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions & promotes cleaner air ,water, protects human health by minimizing exposure to toxic chemicals, supports sustainable livelihoods. By taking doing this project, we created a healthier environment for both nature and humanity, ensuring a sustainable and thriving planet for present and future generations.

I learnt valuable skills such as effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork & got an opportunity to develop problem-solving abilities, enhance time management skills, and foster creativity, also learnt the importance of compromise, adaptability, and leadership. Additionally, working in a team allowed me to gain diverse perspectives, build relationships, and improve interpersonal skills, all of which are essential for success in various personal and professional settings.
