Recycling of Stickers Liners
The project was conceived and developed by Cub Scout Carlos Eduardo Oliveira Gottfried, 10 years old, from the Augusto Severo Cub Scout Pack, 116/RS. The initiative arose after noticing the significant amount of sticker liners from the FIFA World Cup that were being improperly discarded instead of being sent for proper recycling.
The project began with awareness campaigns using posters, social media messages, and efforts to collect the material from locations where large quantities of it were being discarded. Between June and August, more than 3,000 pieces, totaling 1.553 kg, were collected and sent to the appropriate recycling facility.
Throughout the project, Carlos learned that even small actions can help protect the environment. He understood that the sticker liners from the World Cup album should not simply be thrown in the regular trash, because they require a specific recycling process. He also learned that caring for nature involves taking responsibility for our everyday choices and that, even as a child, he can contribute to positive changes in his community.
