Re-population on Arjun trees at Galaboda Falls

I was inspired by the Haritha Lanka Program done by the Sri Lankan government and wanted to create a project and influence scouts on bringing out a healthy plant. In addition, the reason to choose Galaboda waterfall area is because i heard that few of the land were destroyed by and i thought this would be the ideal location for the project.

The scouts and non-scouts reached the place by train at Galaboda and walked to the project location with Arjun plants. The reason to choose this plant was it is a good plant to retain water and it also avoid soil erosion along the waterfall banks. All the participants dug pits in the location and planted plants. By the end of the day 80 Arjun plants were planted and watered. After the planting was done the scouts picked all the plants bags and cleaned the area and went home with contentment.

The people in the neighborhood also helped during the project and they were happy with our effort in creating a healthy and a beautiful neighborhood. The shop keepers were benefited by the purchase of water bottles by us. Also in future more people will visit the place to observe the beauty of the area and the people in the area can improve their business.

The most important thing learnt by the project is that small things can influence lots of minds in few hours and in order to maintain that we need to work together towards one goal despite age differences.
