RCI-Rodriguez: SWA Voluntary Service - Second Service
Today, April 20, 2017, the Scouts, with their Team Consultant, have once again ventured off to Cottolengo Filipino, excited to see their newly found friends. They arrived the place at 7:00 AM in the morning, happily greeted by some of the children they have taught. They have been waiting for the Scouts to arrive, excited for the new knowledge they will acquire. With smiles on their faces, the children who have been there earlier have helped for the early morning preparation. They finished by 8:00 AM, with the rest of the children ready and done with their daily morning routine. The Scouts immediately started the day with the Opening Ceremony.
After the Opening Ceremony at 8:15 AM, the Scouts have immediately started their lesson. The assigned Scouts for the day taught the children all about the Scout Oath and Law, Scout Motto and Slogan. They have prepared visuals and have taught them how to properly recite it, telling them the proper stance and proper way to execute the Scout Sign. Shortly after this, they have started to do the activities they have prepared. The first activity they have prepared started at 9:15 AM and has ended on 9:45 AM. Each was given a word, and will fill-in the blank with the missing word from the Scout Oath. With just the first activity, everybody was already excited. The next activity began immediately after this, ending at 10:30 AM. The children were set off to find flash cards, containing each part of the Scout Law. They will enact the specific part of the Scout Law they have gotten in front of their peers.
The next activity, again, started exactly after the other. It started on 10:30 AM and ended on 10:45 AM. The next activity is about the Scout Slogan. They were given the words, and they have fixed them in order. Though, quite saddening, they knew their fun day was about to end. Their last activity was about coloring the Scout Motto, each of them using the coloring materials provided by the Scouts. The last activity finished by 11:30 AM. Sad from all the hard day’s work, they were given their 30-minute break time before bidding their farewells to the Scouts. Once again satisfied by the new day’s progress, they are excited for the Scouts’ next visit.
