Ral-12 A (Ral-Woodrow-2013)

during the 2013 National Jamboree, I was Scoutmaster of a Boy Scout troop (C228) that was part of the Contingent from the Northern New Jersey Council (333).  Our MOPDOS project (officially designated Ral-12 A) involved one day of extensive landscaping, cutting and clearing overgrown shrubs, removing old plastic ground cover that had deteriorated due to exposure to the sun, and prepared a new large garden bed by the entrance to the school (approx. 25x30 feet in size). We did a great deal of mulching and removed a few mounds of debris.  Also as part of our work, we cleared a clogged drainage channel in the school's main parking lot; and identified two bee hives (one was extremely large) hidden in overgrown shrubs in the parking lot (one of the custodians dealt with them). Our work took place at the Woodrow Wilson High School in Raleigh County West VA.  We were joined by the principal, the school system's Superintendent, and two custodians.  34 Boy Scouts and 8 adults worked about 6-1/2 hours that day.  When we were done, the Superintendent was extremely grateful for all we had accomplished.
