Railway Safety Awareness Walk :Safe Crossing
The project was undertaken to make people more aware of railway level-crossing safety and encourage responsible behaviour near railway crossings. Through the participation of Scouts and Guides, the initiative aimed to take an important railway-safety message directly to the community.
On 9 June 2026, on the occasion of International Level Crossing Awareness Day, the Adra District Association, S.E. Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides organised a Level Crossing Awareness Walkathon across different railway level crossings in Adra. Scouts and Guides participated in the awareness activity carrying banners and communicating railway-safety messages to the public. The activity encouraged alertness, responsible behaviour and greater awareness around railway crossings.
The project taught me that public safety depends not only on rules but also on awareness and responsible behaviour. I learned how Scouts and Guides can use communication and community engagement to convey important safety messages. The activity strengthened my teamwork, confidence, communication and sense of social responsibility.
