Punakha Cub Camp, Bhutan
In order to enable Cubs to understand the importance of peace and to help them contribute towards peace in their own small ways, Punakha Scouts Association organized an Outdoor Residential Camp for Cubs. The Camp was based on the theme, “Peace begins with a smile”. 160 Scouts Participated in the Camp. 23 Cub Leaders and Parents were involved in the program.
The Camp created awareness about problems in the school such as bullying, violence and gangs. Camp was solely conducted to foster a change in the mentality of children that characterize our nation’s schools. Children were also familiarized on the importance to protect and preserve our environment. The Cubs also got the opportunity to learn to be leaders and not followers through conversations about causes of school violence.
The ultimate goal for us was to create a safer school and a peaceful environment in the schools of the District.
