850 participants including students, both scouts and non-scouts, teaching and non-teaching staff and a few hospital staff observed 21st September 2016 as the International Day of Peace and Earthquake Mock Drill Day at Punakha Central School in Punakha Bhutan. The main objective was to promote an everlasting PEACE by spreading the messages of love, harmony, understanding and peace. The day started with the display of the banners holding the messages of Peace and taking photographs of the participants holding the peace pledges. The earthquake mock drill was to create awareness on disaster risk reduction/preparedness as much as possible to ensure peace and safety at the time of such disasters. The scouts, as the search and rescue team, were the true messengers of Peace risking their own lives to save the lives of the others, thereby fulfilling the theme "Building Blocks for Peace". The scouts also served refreshments for all participants.
