After a lot of planing me and my friends finally organised the first Messengers of Peace workshop in India on 15th July 2013 at Ramjas Public School (Day Boarding), New Delhi, India. We also had an International Resource Person for this workshop, Ms. Laura Jokisaari a cinema and photography teacher from Finland. Before the workshop we made all the participants register for it and also regiistered them as Messengers of Peace. Our aim was to register 50 students of ages 10 to 17 as messengers of peace and to aware them about our global initiative of which we are lucky to be part of. But to our surprise we got an overwhelming response and we had to increase our intake and finally we stopped at 62 students as there was no more space in the room. The day began with me telling the students about the movement of scouting and it's history. I also briefed them about the Messengers of Peace initiative. We had a wonderful discussion where students asked questions without any apprehensions. They all were eager to know more about the movement of world brotherhood; Scouting. Then we also talked about the MOP prgram. They all shared their MOP numbers with us.  Before the workshop all the students were asked to bring two-two photographs each on the theme peace. All the photographs were pinned to a board and displayed. The students were then asked to come forward and share their perspective on different photographs brought by their companions.  Few young minds left us surprised with their beautiful vision of peace. This session lasted for three hours. We kept their curiosity alive and the atmosphere vibrant by teaching the students different scouts claps.  In the next session Ms. Laura shared her knowledge of photography with the acquisitive learners and lead them to school's lawn to picture the beauty around. She taught Potrait Photography to the young and curious students. Everyobody had to work in teams of 5 each and click their teammates' potraits.   The workshop culminated on a very happy note with everybody singing and dancing together to the song 'Oh-Alele'.   Our group also planted a tree for which we invited the School's Principal Ms. Sarika Arora and Ms. Laura. The indoctrinating workshop ended by planting a sapling in the school's lawn to always memorize this beautiful day while watching this sapling grow. We have a vision that we want to grow in number as this plant grows. We want more numbers of messengers of peace in our country and the world.   The students learned how to resolve conflicts with their classmates peacefully. Some of them shared their problems and the others shared brilliant ideas.   I believe that if the children, who are the future of any nation, learn to grow peacefully and good values are imbibed in them at an early stage of their lives then for sure they all will grow up to be Messengers of Peace and inspire many more to follow suit.   In a nutshell it was a very small attempt and wouldn't have been possible without such an overwhelming response.  I hope to do many more workshops and training sessions like this in the future with the help of my team.
