Projecto Bolota

Why Bolota (acorn)? “«The oak was once an acorn.» If you ever feel the hope of succeeding in life from a modest beginning slipping away, remember that even the oak, that great and vigorous tree, began as a small acorn fallen to the ground.” in the Footsteps of the Founder, Baden Powell Our 2 major goals were: - Young people and adult volunteers membership recovery, retention and growth; - Post-pandemic opportunities for Scouting to build trust within our communities.
Projeto Bolota consists of two components: 1. A platform where different contents, including tips and tools for post-pandemic scouting activities, are made available. These contents will then be worked on with the intermediate structures of our movement and, if they so wish, applied to the different groups. The platform is available at https://bolota.escutismo.pt/ 2. A promotional campaign that covers and adapts to the needs of our NSO as a whole, as well as our regions and local groups
We are confident the whole association was impacted by this project. We were accompanied by intermediate structures that gave us feedback and contributed to the project. We see groups applying the ideas and dynamics successfully in their groups, and we expect to see even more in the future. We also believe in the impact of our promotional campaign. The high quality we managed to reach was a determining factor in the campaign results, which reached a larger audience, internally and externally.
We learned about the importance of constant and valued contact with our intermediate structures. We reinforced the need to listen to our scouts of all backgrounds, as they bring valuable feedback from different perspectives. Maintaining a close relationship and involving them constantly proved to be an asset for the implementation of project activities in their local groups and for gathering up-to-date feedback, used to improve the ideas we had and adapting them to the needs of our groups.
