Pond Restoration under Mission Amrit Sarovar

We were inspired by the urgent need to revive neglected village water bodies and support the Government of India's Mission Amrit Sarovar. Witnessing declining groundwater levels and environmental degradation motivated Sairam Scouts and UBA Civil Engineering students to apply their technical knowledge through field surveys, marking, and measurements, contributing to sustainable water conservation and community development at Poonthandalam Village.

The project was executed through a collaborative effort involving Sairam Scouts, UBA Civil Engineering students, faculty members, and the local community. A field survey was conducted at Poonthandalam Village, followed by scientific marking and measurements of the pond using surveying instruments. The collected data will support the planning and restoration process under Mission Amrit Sarovar, ensuring sustainable water conservation and groundwater recharge.

This project taught us the importance of community participation in water conservation and the value of applying engineering knowledge to real-world challenges. We gained practical experience in field surveying, marking, and measurements while understanding the significance of restoring water bodies. The initiative strengthened our teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and commitment to sustainable rural development and environmental stewardship.
