Plastic-Free Kovalam: Beach Cleanup

The project was inspired by the urgent need to protect our oceans and beaches from plastic pollution. Seeing the impact of waste on marine life and coastal beauty, the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Sairam District Association, decided to act. This initiative encourages community participation and spreads awareness, aiming to build a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for all.

We executed the project with the support of the Kovalam Village Panchayat Association and a local NGO. Rovers and Rangers were divided into teams and provided with gloves and eco-friendly bags. Together, we cleaned the beach, collected plastic waste, and safely disposed of it. We also organized awareness activities to educate the public about protecting our environment.

Through this project, we learned the importance of teamwork, community involvement, and environmental responsibility. We realized that even small actions can create a big impact when people work together. Collaborating with the Kovalam Panchayat and local NGOs taught us the value of partnerships. Most importantly, we understood the urgent need to spread awareness about reducing plastic pollution.
