Plastic bottles Replay!
After the PTTC onboarding training in the Free State earlier in the year, we saw the amount of plastic in and around our school. Under the leadership of Scouter Siszwe, 10 Scouts from the 1st LK Ntlabathi Scouts Group decided to clean up the plastic litter and turn it into something more useful. We wanted to make a difference in our community and show people what can be done.
We cleaned up around our school and showed our peers and teachers what can be achieved from picking up plastic. We collected plastic bottles and bottle tops in the community and transformed and upcycled them into useful things at home like candles holders to use during load shedding when there is no electricity, hanging herb gardens when there is not enough space for a garden, a toy cars so children can play.
We learned why it is important not to litter, and how plastic is destroying our environment. We learned to recycle the plastic we use and to make useful items for around the house.
