Planting trees for Future
On 16th June 2018, 110 Y-Via volunteers, 10 forest officials and 18 Community Based Scoutingvolunteers have participated in the tree plantation programme carried out at Sangay Chokorling, Paro. The initiative coincided with the foundation day of the Youth Development Fund. The journey from Thimphu to Paro started at around 6:30am and the five hours programme started from 8:30am in the morning.
The work area streched at places where many trees were lost due to major forest fire last year 2017. The initiative will help the area to retain its natural landscape once the saplings start to grow. Furthermore, it aimed towards rebuilding the destroyed habitats.
The programme saw over 700 plus saplings planted which will grow into trees that will furnish our future. It also helped arouse sense of collaboration among the different organizations and people.
