"Planting Life, Protecting Tomorrow
I was inspired by my responsibility as a Scout and my commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. Understanding the role of trees in protecting the environment motivated me to plant a Saptaparni and cotton tree sapling to support SDG-15 and promote environmental awareness among students.
I coordinated with the authorities of a government school and locals and selected a suitable location for plantation. Healthy saplings of Saptaparni (Alstonia scholaris) and Cotton tree were planted with proper pit preparation and soil conditioning. With the help of fellow Scouts and guides the saplings were watered and protected, and awareness was shared with students and staff about their care and environmental importance to ensure long-term sustainability.
Through this project, I learned the importance of teamwork, planning, and responsibility in environmental action. I understood that tree plantation is not just about planting saplings but also about nurturing and protecting them. The project strengthened my sense of leadership, community service, and commitment to sustainable development.
