Pedal for Future : Scouts Against Pollution
Seeing Jakarta struggle with air pollution and realizing how little people connect with the city’s cultural diversity inspired us. We wanted a fun, active way to raise awareness — cycling lets Scouts explore local heritage while promoting a cleaner environment. The goal is simple: show that caring for our culture and our planet can go hand in hand, starting with small, visible actions.
We organized a cycling tour with fellow Scouts across Jakarta’s cultural sites. Along the route, we promoted environmental awareness and cultural preservation using the hashtags #JagabudayaJakarta and #JakartaBebasPolusi. Participants engaged with local communities, documented the ride on social media, and encouraged eco-friendly habits like reducing pollution and protecting public spaces.
The project raised awareness about air pollution and the importance of preserving Jakarta’s cultural heritage. Participants and local communities became more engaged in eco-friendly habits, such as reducing waste and protecting public spaces. It also strengthened teamwork among Scouts and showed that combining physical activity with advocacy can inspire positive change in the community.
We learned that combining physical activity with awareness campaigns makes the message more engaging and memorable. Cycling helped us connect with both the environment and local culture, showing that protecting the planet and preserving heritage can go hand in hand. Teamwork and creativity are key to inspiring others to take action in their own communities.
