On September 27, 2019 a total of 26 of Year 6 Cub Scouts (Pengakap Kanak-Kanak) of SK. Pekan gathered together for their first International Peace Month Celebration held at SK. Pekan Sipitang.

The activity started with the Grand Howl at the school field led by The Sipitang’s Scout District Commissioner, Skipper Walter Alvin Jiniti. After renewing the Scouts Oath led by the Troop Leader, Skipper Walter Alvin Jiniti

Gave a briefing to the Cub Scouts about the Messenger of Peace activity and the objectives of the International Peace Month Celebration that will be done.

All of the Cub Scouts payed attention and gave their full co-operation during the briefing by giving positive and active two-ways communication.

As The Amazing Race for Peace was after the briefing, the Cub Scouts Assistant District Commissioner, Skipper Fridorine Jeafry gave a short briefing on the activity that will be done afterwards. The 26 Cub Scouts then gathered at the school field and were divided into 4 groups of Green, Red, Blue and Yellow team. Leader of each groups then appointed by the group members and were responsible to lead their own group members to find the coloured envelopes according to their team colour.

To start the race, the team who were able to answer the question from Skipper Fridorine will be released to get their next clues. All of the team were able to give the correct answer and started the race with their team members.

Despite of the quite hot weather on that day, all of the team members gave their full co-operation and really gave all their best to win the race. They were able to solve the clues given and ran fast in team.

After all the team were able to get all of the clues. They then gathered in the Pendidikan Seni Visual class to do the next tasks in their own team that was combining the M.o.P and the International Day of Peace logo puzzles and paste it on the given A3 sized papers which they were able to finish it in a very little time.

After taking a short break. Skipper Walter Alvin Jiniti taught them some Scouts songs and they learnt it very fast and perfectly.

Before the programme ended, some of the Cub Scouts members were given the chance to share their experience and thoughts about the activity. Overall, most of them confessed that they had so much fun and aware that it was their responsibilities to be part of the community in taking a very good care of the environment.

Skipper Walter Alvin Jiniti congratulated and thanked all the Cub Scouts of SK. Pekan Sipitang for their excellent co-operation and wished there will be more M.o.P activities can be done in the future with them.

The activity ended that day by taking pictures together to be posted to the Facebook and to the school’s group Whatsapp. Many positive feedbacks later received from their teachers and friends.
