Park Clean up and Nature Survey

My motivation was to encourage everyone to follow the Leave No Trace Principles while visiting the park and to help the park in its human impact and wildlife survey.
The troop conducted a trash pick-up. We also recorded any wildlife encountered, any off-trail paths that existed, any trail obstructions, and any human impacts to nature we found. Additionally, we introduce the Cache in, Trash Out (CITO) initiative to the park by putting CITO material in caches located in the park.
Our cleanup efforts helped keep the park clean so everyone can enjoy it and the survey we did, along other data gathered previously, can now be used by the park to assess the effectiveness of current rules and the park’s conservation efforts. Also, by introducing the Cache in, Trash Out (CITO) initiative to the park we ensured our clean-up efforts have a wider and longer-lasting impact for the park.
We learned that protecting nature is everyone's responsibility and that even small reminders and incentives can help remind people to Leave No Trace.
