Our Place Our Waste Our Responsibilities
On 2nd April 2026. I coordinated discussion with other scouts leaders and school administration about need to clean up public areas like local bus stop stations and near by shops where people take rest while shopping in the shop. I was taken by the missed site. Moreover, it is found that environment does not look clean to live in. So, to keep the environment clean we started cleaning the public places.
On 2nd April Scouts Leaders and Nachungs Scouts including supporting staff of the school were divided into 4 groups. Group 1. Cleaning around local milk collecting unit Group 2. Sonam Uangden Tshongkhang and parking. Group 3. Local bus stop station. Group 4. Alongside high from Kanchi shop to Iangchub shop, and public resting place (local called Chautari). Each group has responsible lead leaders. Each group were provided with 3 empty sacks to segregate the waste.
he project had a positive impact on both the environment and the people who participated in it. The most visible impact was the improvement in the cleanliness and appearance of several public areas, including the local milk collecting unit, parking area, bus stop, roadside, shops, and the Chautari. Removing scattered waste made these places cleaner, healthier, and more pleasant for community members to use.
The project also helped create awareness among the Scouts and school staff about the importance of taking care of public spaces. Participants experienced firsthand how much waste can accumulate in commonly used areas and understood that keeping the environment clean requires everyone's cooperation.
Another important impact was the development of teamwork and a sense of responsibility among the Scouts. By working in groups and taking responsibility for specific areas, the participants developed leadership, cooperation, communication, and community-service skills. The activity also demonstrated that young people can play an important role in protecting the environment and contributing positively to their communities.
The project taught us the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment and showed us that cleanliness is a shared responsibility. We learned that public places can become dirty very quickly when people do not dispose of their waste properly, but positive change can happen when community members work together and take responsibility.
We also learned the importance of teamwork, cooperation, planning, leadership, and proper division of responsibilities. By dividing the participants into different groups and assigning each group a specific area, we were able to complete the cleaning activity in an organized and effective manner. The Scouts also learned how to identify and collect waste responsibly and the importance of separating waste instead of mixing everything together.
