Our Beautiful World (Litter Less) - 1st Fourways

The Cubs, Meerkats. Scouters as well as some adult helpers on the day of the 10th of March 2023, in the 1st Fourways group were able to make a significant impact i.to. of doing our part in making our environment in around the grounds of All Saints church, a little more beautiful. This was done by picking up litter for the duration of our meeting. Not only was lots of fun had but the Meerkats also learnt about doing their part by keeping our environment litter free.
We picked up litter in around the grounds of All Saints Anglican Church for a hour and a half. Collecting it in different bags so that general waste could be disposed of suitably and waste such as paper, plastic and aluminum could be taken to a recycling plant.

The opportunity was taken to explain to the Cubs and Meerkats the positive impact of litter pickup on our environment, creating an awareness. Also, this action beautified the church grounds as well and the area immediately around it.

It created an awareness in the Cubs and the Meerkats about how pollution negatively impacts the environment, and how litter getting into the nearby rivers and vlei can have an adverse effect on the animals' habitat.
