Odisha Sans Plastic

At present, we all are aware of the hazards of plastics but still, we never mind to use of plastic. That means we are not really concerned about it. Keeping this in view, the State Chief Commissioner, Odisha State BS&G inspired us and suggested to take up a project on plastic. We the scouts and guides planned to make our community plastic-free in the true sense.

Firstly, we planned to reduce the use of polythene. So We prepared cloth bags and paper bags, distributed the bags among the public, and tried to make them aware to use this instead of polythene packets. Then we planned to collect plastics scattered in our environment. The garbage is aptly used in making eco-bricks and other decorative pieces. i.e. flowerbase etc.

The project proved beneficial to the community as the people became happy to reuse the garbage in such a constructive way. They felt the convenience of using the cotton bags instead of the polythene packets.

From this we learnt that, the harmful wastage can be used not only to beautify, but also helpful for construction.
