Ocean Life Awareness - Mangrove Forest Restoration
My inspiration to start this project stemmed from a deep understanding of the importance of ocean life and the urgent need for widespread adoption of sustainable practices to conserve and restore these ecosystems. Recognizing that everyone has a role to play, I aimed to bridge the gap between awareness and action.
The project unfolded through a #16days4OceanLife Instagram campaign, sharing engaging content to educate about ocean life and sustainable practices. This digital outreach culminated in a hands-on mangrove planting in Mombasa. The collaborative effort involved local communities, government representatives, the Kenya Forest Service, and scout groups, showcasing tangible ecosystem restoration.
The project highlighted that digital awareness effectively mobilizes real world action, especially when paired with tangible activities like mangrove planting. Collaboration across communities, government, scout groups and organizations is crucial for impactful conservation. Engaging visuals and clear calls to action drive participation, while community ownership ensures project sustainability and long-term success.
